The market for renewable energy is growing rapidly due to increasing oil and gas prices, expanding Federal, local, and state incentives, and rising U.S. energy consumption. Additionally, investment dollars are being poured into renewable energy, and the market is predicted to grow to more than $100 billion by 2014. There is also growing public support and awareness for renewable energy generation.

 

Renewable power production is expected to have the fastest growth rate of any domestic energy source. Most of the growth in the U.S. is predicted to come from wind and solar, which are predicted to grow by 20% in 2005 (EIA).

 

Momentum believes there is substantial opportunity to expand renewable generation to infuse more clean energy into the mainstream electric market.  Through our work to develop, own, and operate locally-owned ("community") wind projects, and our investments in wind energy and other types of renewable generation facilities, Momentum helps communities and the nation diversify its economies and reduce fossil-fuel dependency.  Local ownership of renewable generation projects also provides income for rural communities in the form of local purchases, suppliers, contractors, and financing, as well as tax revenue and tourism.
